Last month, Microsoft launched a series of events worldwide from Toronto to the UK to advertise its new Kinect for the Xbox 360. Those events are there to promote their new device and also get users to try out the new systems and preferably encourage them to buy the new system for the holiday season.
Kinect is a small gadget that attaches to your Xbox 360 Console and offers a motion detection system that enables you to control games and the gadget without any physical controller. The system has countless sensors, cameras and even multiple mics that grab all type of data. This data is then processed by its powerful processors and calculations to get voice and visual commands. The system isolates individuals and follows them to pick up their commands. Additionally , it isolates specific voices and drowns out background noises.
In their newest Pr campaign in the United Kingdom, Microsoft has guaranteed that it will not only support casual games such as the mahjong games series like mahjong online, but it'll also support games for hardcore gamers like the Bioshock and FEAR series. How they'll achieve this still remains to be seen, but seeing the wonderful improvement they have made with games such as mahjong connect and other puzzle type games, we have no doubt they'll make this a seamless experience for consumers.
In these hardcode games, users will be able to control the weapons, walking and even zoom in functions with hand gestures. It's hard to imagine how precise movements that are needed in these kinds of games, can be controlled specially in multiplayer settings. Initially these games were played with a mouse and keyboard on the PC. As these games were migrated to consoles, they started using the xbox 360 controllers instead. This provided less accuracy and more clumsy movement. Over time players got better at using these, but even today in Xbox 360 live games were console gamers play again players with mouse controls, it is simple to see how much worse they are.
